Increased Value and Energy Savings

Metal Roofs Add To Value to A Home’s Appraised Value

The Residential Cost Handbook, a reference source by Marshall and Swift used by real estate appraisers, states that the appraised value of a home will increase by $1.35 per square foot when it has a metal roof!

Metal Roofs Save Home Owners Money on Energy

The average home spends $1,284.00 per year on energy (Source: The Union of Concerned Scientists).

A metal roof saves 23% on average on energy use ( Florida Solar Energy Center).

Therefore, a metal roof saves homeowners about $295 per year in energy costs. Over a 20 years, a homeowner will save almost $6,000 in energy costs from metal roofing!

Energy Savings From Metal Roofing Adds Value to Appraised Value

An article entitled “Evidence of Rational Market Valuations for Home Energy Efficiency” from a magazine called The Appraisal Journal shows how energy savings from a metal roof adds value to a home.

The article states that research findings show that the selling price of homes increased by $20.73 for every $1.00 decrease in annual energy bills.

For a home which saves $295 per year in energy from a metal roof, that would equate to an additional $6,100 in appraised value for the home because of increased energy efficiency!
